My Students

I am an Agriculture Education teacher in a very small rural school in Missouri. I focus on agriculture literacy with my middle school students and teaching them about their food from the gate to the plate. It is very important to teach and show them about all areas of agriculture and show them how they are affected. By knowing the facts they can make solid informed choices about so many parts of their lives including their food and recreation activities.

I have a great group of students who want to learn more about food science, nutrition, and cooking.

My Project

I have a great food science lab in my classroom with 4 full kitchens. However, the cookware in my lab is old and not safe, so it is in need of replacement. While these new pots, pan, and griddles my students can continue to learn about their food from gate to plate. They can learn not only how food is raised, processed and marketed, but also how to prepare that food in safe, healthy ways.

We live in a low income somewhat rural area where people don't always know where their food comes from or how to prepare healthy meals.

These pots and pans would allow me to continue to teach my students new, healthy ways to prepare food that is all around them that they can take home and teach their families.
