Our school serves students in grades K-6. We strive for excellence in the areas of social/emotional growth, the arts, physical education, and academic excellence. We strive to meet students where they are and assist each student to become the very best that they can be!
Our class is made up of 21 amazing students, many of whom come from bilingual households and all qualify to receive free lunch.
As first graders are becoming fluent readers, having relatable and enjoyable text to listen to is not only exciting, it’s imperative for reading growth.
My Project
First graders love to read and listen to books both online and in person. Having two Amazon Kindle Fires in our classroom will encourage and promote reading fluency by modeling after fluent readers. We will utilize our public library's collection of online books to match our author study and areas of interest. First grades will have many opportunities to read and listen to fluent readers on these exciting Kindle Fires. The opportunity to choose books of interest as well as listen to fluent readers will promote reading fluency and comprehension. We are looking forward to having the Amazon Kindle Fires in our classroom during the 2019-2020 school year.
