Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"It is our choices, Harry that show us who we truly are, far more than our abilities." That quote sums up my students. Most of my students' family members never graduated from high school, yet for my students college is the plan. They have made the choice to improve themselves and their lot in life.
They come from many different backgrounds, but they share the desire to improve their lot in life.
Many of their parents came here to give them a chance at a better life. Education is the key to taking advantage of that chance. Sometimes my students really need the built in dictionary to help them. Most of speak English as a second language.
My Project
My students will have the opportunity to use the six tablets in class for research and typing papers. For some of my students the Fire tablets will help them work their way through difficult projects, by giving them access to the web. For some of my students the lure of a new device will help spark the fire to read and learn!
Kindle Fires in my classroom will encourage my students in so many ways! My students will have the opportunity to use some of the latest technology available to improve their educational experience and the they will have more time for learning and less time looking for a computer to use. Testing takes up the computers labs so often that we rarely get to use the Labs.
By giving my students an opportunity to have access to a tablet in class, it will give them opportunity rather than slamming a door on learning.
They will have a chance to use the same resources as students that have computers at home. This one item can truly help level the playing field. This can open the door to many other educational opportunities.
