The students that attend our school are a diverse population in ethnicity and social economic status. The students love to learn and will participate in all types of activities if there are options.
We are a Title 1 school so most of the students are on free or reduced meals.
Even though the larger population of our school has a lower social economic status, they are techno savvy, however, it is mostly games. Students need to know how to read print on a tablet so as they grow they can access digital books, essays, poems, and articles.
My Project
In this technological age, Students need differentiated reading platforms. The Kids Kindle Fire lets kids access digital books and learning apps to engage and promote reading. In addition, the Kids Kindle Fire has the capability to read aloud to the students and is portable to move and use anywhere in the class or school.
The Kids Kindle Fire will improve student engagement in reading.
It will provide a different 21st Century learning tool for students to use to support learning to read, it will support digital competency in learning and it will just seem fun to Kindergartners and not so much like "work".
