My students need these Kindle Fire tablets to access our classroom's interactive content. The folio cases will help improve the longevity of the tablets in a high school classroom.
We are a school with significant potential and a very diverse student population. Some of our students come from homes in which the parents work with local universities and government agencies, while others have never been (nor plan on being) out of the county. Unfortunately, the majority of our students falls in the latter category. Over 70% of our students are on free or reduced lunch.
In the classroom, this translates to a "Why bother?" mentality.
These struggling students are rarely motivated by long term goal setting. Instead, I try to reach them one topic at a time. I am blessed to be a teacher in such a dynamic field that allows me to reach my students using "cool" information. I endeavor to have each of these topics come alive in our classroom.
My Project
I will use these Fire tablets to engage students in online learning activities. They can run through demonstrations, create projects, and self evaluate through real time graded assessments. This will be used in whole class instructions or through a rotation through stations.
Thank you for bringing the modern world into my classroom!
These tablets will be used in various Kahoots and Quizlet Live. I have been able to use these platforms to implement online competitive review games that students beg to play over and over. I am now in the process of turning some worksheets into competitive games because of the huge success.
I am seeing the greatest benefit in students willingness to work on assignments now that they have the computers as a resource. These tablets will be kept in a cart available for check out during any of our classroom tasks.
