My students need tablets (plus cases to protect and a charging box to store them!) for assignments, virtual science labs, creating digital projects, recording experiment results, and so much more!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school has got a great culture of school pride! The students are excited about learning and doing science in my classroom. A majority of our student population is economically disadvantaged. This fact, however, doesn't stop us from exploring, engaging, and doing science.
No workbooks, no lectures: our class performs labs, designs experiments, thinks critically, and applies what we know to new situations.
My students learn best by seeing and doing. It is my goal to make learning relevant and rigorous to grab their attention, hearts, and minds!
My Project
Each year, I survey my learners and the majority (about 75%) of them are visual learners, some kinesthetic, and rarely a few audio learners. My students learn by seeing and doing in the science lab. We do experiments and labs, read articles, and analyze graphs and data; we truly interact authentically with biology. Oftentimes, I will have my students use technology to document, report, and analyze their learning and science experiments. This is tricky when some students do not have access to technology while in my classroom.
These Amazon Fire Tablets will allow my students the opportunity to use technology in the science classroom.
They will be able to use the cameras and video recorders to capture experiment results and create video/audio presentations. Students will be able to access the internet to research, view tutorial videos, use the online textbook, perform online virtual lab simulations, and submit assignments electronically. Students will also be able to participate individually in online reviews and surveys instead of relying on their peers to share personal devices. We incorporate as much technology as we can so students can practice and develop their skills. Having extra devices in my classroom will ensure that every students gets to develop those skills!
