This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This year I am teaching a self-contained Kindergarten class online. I currently have 31 students and am hoping that my class is now complete!
This year has been unlike any other year!
Instead of being in my classroom with my students, I am in my dining room staring at them in their homes on Zoom. Instead of hugs and high fives, we have to wave and smile. Instead of playing with friends at recess, they only get to chat with each other during lunch, also on Zoom. It has been a big adjustment! Most of my students have never been in school. So, for them, this is something new and different. For me, my world is turned upside down!
My Project
The books I have chosen will allow me to learn some new strategies for engaging and teaching my students online. This can be helpful for this year since I am teaching online. These strategies can also be modified and used in the classroom when I return there next year. I will also be able to provide parents more guidance for working with their children at home. I have a few students that aren't responding to anything we have tried so far, so a few new ideas are needed to get them engaged and learning!
