My students need a Differing Abilities Paperback Library for books that they can relate to, Alphabet Nameplates and a Transportation Puzzle for independent work stations.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Reading is a favorite subject among the students in my class. They would love to have books that they can read and relate to.
My students are kids in Kindergarten through 5th grade who are truly hard workers and love coming to school.
Because of various circumstances and disabilities, my students benefit from very systematic instruction, multiple opportunities to learn new information, and multiple opportunities to respond to new learning. To allow my students full access to the general education curriculum, I adapt and modify everything to fit their abilities and their needs to allow them the opportunity to have the best outcomes post high school.
My Project
These materials will be used to further my ability to teach early literacy skills to my students. They will be used at least weekly in our room by me and my 2 assistants with each and every student in our class. They will also be used in other classrooms in our school to help them to be understanding of others who might have different abilities.
These will make a difference by communicating what it is like to live with a disability.
It will help raise awareness not only among my students, but among students outside of our classroom.
