I teach in a low socioeconomic area in Texas where approximately 97% of my students receive free lunch. My students experience daily challenges when they come to me from home, Hurricane Harvey being the most recent along with other daily challenges.
Everyday my scholars walk into my math class regardless of their struggles, and they are anxious to learn something new.
It is such an amazing feeling seeing my scholars approach to learning the second they set foot in my classroom.
We are in our second half of the school year. As we prepare to rock the STAAR test my scholars are in need of various manipulatives and supplies.
We need crayons, markers, Sharpie markers, dry erase markers and post-it notes.
Every year around this time the crayons are broken, pencils seem to disappear, paper is low, and pieces are missing. It’s all in the fun of teaching and learning, but one thing does not change scholars come ready to learn!
We also need one more iPad to complete our small group technology table. Finally, we need math activity stations, and math games. All of these materials will greatly impact my classroom through both whole group teaching, as well as small group teaching! We are so ready to rock this test.
