My students need snacks to rejuvenate them as they finish out their second grade year of learning. My students have a very late lunch period and need to stay energized as they continue learning.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My second grade students are a bright and vibrant bunch. I work at a public school in the city of Charlotte, North Carolina. Our school serves students in grades kindergarten through eighth grade. The students at our school have a 99% rate of receiving either free or reduced-price lunch. My students face a variety of personal challenges but have the opportunity to pave their own pathways through the avenue of their education. They are very loving and are extremely excited about school and learning. Help plant seeds to inspire their excitement and passion for learning.
My Project
It's the simplest things that can truthfully make a tremendous impact in a child's life. One would think that the simple luxury of having a snack to bring to school every day would be very minor. However, it has a major impact on learning.
Learning encompasses the whole body; it is mental, emotional, and physical.
The opportunity for my students to be able to have a snack at school to rejuvenate them for the rest of their learning time will enhance their focus. It also can make a major difference in how much they are able to learn that day. Every day and every moment matters.
