This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I have an amazing group of first-grade students who love school and learning! My students are a part of a Gifted Cluster who need to be challenged constantly. Like most classrooms, I have a very diverse group of students. Our school is a Title I school, where students qualify to receive free breakfast and lunch. Although finances are a struggle at times, they eagerly come to school and work very hard. They know that through education, they will be able to better their lives and change the world in a positive way. Help me bring in the necessary materials to help my students prepare for their future.

My Project

My scholars are fortunate enough to be a part of a cohort which has one to one iPads. However, due to their grade level, they did not receive keyboards because they do not participate in state testing. Nonetheless, it is imperative that they have keyboards to practice their typing for numerous reasons.

Keyboards will give them access to a lifelong skill utilized both in and out of the workforce.

They will be able to publish their writing by typing it. Additionally, they will serve as a means of preparation for their state test they will take in a few years. More importantly, they will use them in their day-to-day activities. My students will love that "big kid" feeling of mastering such an important skill.
