Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I teach third grade at Inborden Elementary School in Enfield, NC. Our school is located in a small rural town with a high rate of unemployment, single family homes, and the majority of our students receive free lunch. This year, I have watched some of my students struggle to improve skills that enhance their self-esteem and value. Next year, I hope to help make it easier for them to continue learning the skills through the use of "Word Labs". "Word Labs" will allow individuals to work independently to improve reading, writing competence, antonyms, synonyms, spelling, and much more. Students who need additional assistance will have access to the "Word Labs" while continuing to improve their skills and build self-confidence.
