Help me give my students the opportunity to express their creativity, as well as focusing in on their fine motor skills through these interactive manipulatives and self-expressive tools.
This is my 8th year teaching, and my third year teaching Kindergarten. I recently finished my master's program in early education and have definitely found my true passion: young learners.
The best part about teaching Kindergarten is definitely my students.
They are so young and eager to learn, which makes my job so exciting! They come to school each day ready and happy to be a part of our learning community.
The students I work with come from a variety of backgrounds and home lives. I work at a Title I school, so there are many different levels of socioeconomic status. A lot of my students have never had exposure to different kinds of fine motor hands-on tools, and they could very well be the ones who need it the most. I would love to be able to expose my students to a variety of teaching tools to enhance their learning and experience in school.
My Project
These fine motor activities and resources will make such an impact on my young learners. Coming into Kindergarten, a lot of my students do not have the fine motor skills needed to withstand the demands of a full day of school. They need tools and resources to help guide and support their fine motor needs, while also being engaging and fun!
Having access to a variety of hands-on materials that are exciting and strengthening will really help to guide my students in the right direction.
This will help them to gain better strength with pencil grip, along with being able to hold and use scissors correctly. Although these skills might seem small, they will lead to such big strides down the road.
Students can often tire of having to constantly hold writing utensils, so if I can give them a hands-on and interactive approach to strengthening their fine motor skills I want to be able to do that!
