Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Developing fine motor, gross motor, visual perceptual, visual motor, sensory processing, and daily living skills are vital to the success of special needs students. In a school based occupational therapy setting, we focus on further development of these essential skills in a fun and creative manner...Play!
Special needs students love to learn!
Learning through play is functional and can be leveled to meet each individual student's needs. Play in OT develops the skills needed for students to be successful in their academic environment.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting will be utilized during Occupational Therapy sessions with students that have special needs. The magnetic puzzles will assist with the development of eye hand coordination and academic skills for early learners (color, number, and letter matching). The tweezers activity is a great pre-writing activity to further develop and strengthen the muscles of the hand as needed for writing.
Children learn and grow through play.
The materials requested in this project are just for that. They will provide an engaging way to incorporate learning skills and keep my special needs students interested and occupied on their learning tasks.
