My students need more hands-on opportunities to build strong fine motor skills while learning math and science skills and having fun! The Lego Table will give them a true place to create, build, and design!
My students come from all different backgrounds, from all over the world. We have 10 different languages just in pre-k! Most of our students live in poverty, with our school having over 90% of children on free and reduced lunch.
Our students love to come to school!
This is their safe place. They know they will have food, shelter, and a loving environment that provides them with their needs.
Children at our school are eager to learn and soak it all in, everyday! I love my school and my kiddos. Their backgrounds inspire me to be a better person and teacher!
My Project
Fine motor skills are very important to develop early in life. The years between birth and 3 are “instrumental in core muscle development,” and it is recommended that parents incorporate a mix of gross and fine motor skills into at-home play. My student need more manipulatives, like Snap & Pop Beads, and Linking Letter Monkeys, and opportunities to develop their fine motor skills, because many of them did not have the above opportunities at home; and therefore, come to school with poor fine motor skills. I want to incorporate STEM learning with fine motor activities. I am asking for items that will help my students work on their fine motor skills, while also learning science and math! All of the manipulatives I am asking for, will help my students develop all of these skills, so that they will be on track for their future as engineers and architects! My students will not be left behind due to poor fine motor skills!
