My young fives classroom at KES is a place where those who are too young or socially/emotionally not ready for Kindergarten thrive. Students are given the opportunity to develop social skills, learn through play, and get exposure to Kindergarten standards. It is the gift of an extra year to build a solid foundation for school.

My Project
Fine motor skills encompass the coordination of small muscles, including fingers and wrists. This dexterity is necessary for writing, drawing, self-care, and manipulating small objects. Due to changing times and an increase in technology use at home, students are entering school with less and less fine motor ability each year.
Students cannot be successful in learning to form letters and numbers, tying their shoes, creating drawings, and more without this fine motor strength.
It is the first skill students must acquire before moving on to more complex tasks. Kinetic sand, lacing, tweezer games, developmental pencils, and small building toys will give students the chance to practice and refine their hand strength in fun ways.
