Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is filled with eager and ready-to-learn students! We have built and fostered an environment where kids can feel safe and loved. Our school is not located in the safest part of the city, but our school has provided a safe place for our kids. We have Saturday and Sunday recreational activities that provide a safe place for kids to play.
Although these children come from all aspects of life, this does not define who they can become.
We have students who come from homeless shelters, programs, single family homes, farm-worker parents and foster care. Although they have many obstacles in their life, a barrier to receiving a proper education is not one of them.
My Project
Why is fine motor skills important? These skills helps a child is able to complete important tasks such as writing, feeding oneself, buttoning and zippering. I need those little hand muscles to work out to make beautiful legible letters. I am asking for tri-beads, pony beads and string cords for kids to make jewelry.
Not only will they be having fun making bracelets, they will also be working on those fine motor skills that they desperately need to improve.
I wanted to provide variety of bead options for my kids to choose from. I plan on having them make sight word bracelets using the alphabet letter beads. The word for them to practice and recognize is the sight word bracelet they got that day. I also would like them to make bracelets during their earned break as a way to cool down.
