This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Established in 1979, our school provides educational and support services for children with hearing or vision loss. Some of the students have additional challenges that magnify the impact of the vision or hearing loss. Each student has special needs and requires extensive technology and assistance to succeed in a school setting.
Students attend classes at one of three locations: the elementary, middle, and high school campuses.
In addition, itinerant services are provided throughout the county for students whose disability is not severe enough to require full-time placement on one of the campuses. Services are also provided in several area counties.
My Project
My students need to develop fine motor skills that impact both their academics and life skills.
These fine motor materials will encourage muscle strengthening and dexterity.
The dexterity vest will allow my students to practice zipping, buttoning, using velcro, and lacing on a flat panel board. These exercises will help improve their fine motor control while also learning dressing skills.
The four dress up vest will be used once the students have mastered the dexterity vest. These will provide real life dressing practice in a fun and colorful way. The vest are decorated with a variety of different cultures patterns, which we will incorporate into our language lesson.
Thank you for supporting my students and their needs!
