Help me give my students the following items to help develop their fine motor skills to use basic classroom tools such as crayons, other writing instruments scissors and glue.
My students all have an IEP with a range of disabilities including Down syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Developmental Delay, Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Delay and a number of other syndromes such as Williams Syndrome and genetic disorders. These students range from preschool to elementary age. Space is limited and materials are scarce due to lack of funds. Having the appropriate materials for therapy is critical to a student's success.
Being able to provide materials and equipment to these students gives them the opportunity to achieve their goals and reach their highest potential!
My Project
If my project is funded I will be able to use these valuable tools through play to help students with varying disabilities and diagnoses develop the fine motor skills needed to do basic tasks such as hold a crayon to color a picture, maintain grasp on a scissors to cut out a shape or picture and to hold a pencil to write their name. These are basic skills that come naturally to most of us but require hours of therapy and practice for a student with special needs to acquire these skills. The right tools are vital for giving a student the best opportunity to reach their full potential. Thank you for considering and funding this project! Much appreciated.
