Help me give my students the tools, age-appropriate crayons, scissors, and manipulative materials, to improve their fine motor skills. I will be providing them with a fun floor activity art pad to use these tools with.
I teach a sweet group of preschoolers (ages 3-5) that have autism. My class is normally supported by knowledgeable instructional assistants, a speech therapist, an occupational therapist, and myself by working to meet their individual needs. The children love to engage with fun, hands-on, visual learning activities.
My Project
My sweet little ones try so hard to draw, cut, and write their names. But they have either weak fine motor muscles or motor planning challenges and need a fun way to improve their pre-writing skills. The tote bags would help the parents to keep the materials in a safe place. Their amazing parents are trying so hard during this pandemic to help keep their children making progress towards their IEP goals.
These items would help the parents and children to play and have fun while working on very important developmental skills.
I am in awe of how the parents have been creative with the lessons and ideas that I share with them each week. They often send me pictures of the children that just makes my day.
