Play is such an integral part of a young child's day in our Pre-K program. For many of the students in my classroom, this is their first experience in a school setting and I want to help them have the best experience possible. We are a STEM Magnet Interdistrict School with an urban and suburban student population.
One hundred percent of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.
For many students, school is their only exposure to a variety of hands-on activities and experiences. I want to help my students create a strong and meaningful educational foundation.
My Project
These materials will help my PreK students strengthen their fine motor skills all while increasing their awareness about diversity, inclusion, and multiculturalism. The Differing Abilities Puzzle Set will show students that kids of all abilities have a lot in common, and that children with differing abilities can do things just like them! The Kids Around the World Block Play People will help students explore cultures around the world as they role play, and the Families Book Set will allow the students to explore the different roles each member of a family can play as they share their own experiences with the class.
The requested materials will help ALL of the students in my class strengthen their fine motor skills and broaden their knowledge of diversity in the world and how much we have in common with others (similar and different from us).
These materials will allow students to ask questions to further understanding, work cooperatively with their peers, and expand their horizons about the people in the world around them.
