What do you see when you peek into my school world? You see 23 students with a variety of backgrounds. There are students who come from blue-collar families, white-collar families, single-parent households, refugee families, non-English speaking families, migrant families, and more. They are a very eclectic group of children with huge lifestyle differences.
However, they all have a yearning to learn!
While they are all learning different things at different paces, they want to know everything about everything. They are curious! They are passionate! They are energetic! They are flexible! They want it all!
My Project
With the integration of technology into people's every day lives, we are seeing a bigger need to focus on fine motor skills in the classrooms. If students have an opportunity to work on their fine motor skills through art, drawing, and play, then academic items like writing will not be as strenuous on them.
Having access to a variety of art materials will allow my students to strengthen their fine motor skills with enjoyment and excitement!
During purposeful play centers and writing free time, the students will be able to choose a Learn to Draw book of their choice and use the colored gel pens, colored pencils, and Crayola markers to do directed drawings of kid friendly items in art books. The different materials will let them fine tune their pincer grasp while making fun drawings and art pictures/projects!
