I have a very diverse of students in my classroom and well all come together to make one magnificent class. I tell my students that we need to learn to get along like one big happy family. My goal is that by instilling in them a love of learning and exploration that they will grow into their endless opportunity future.
One of the biggest rewards of teaching, is watching students discover how they learn best.
I love the moment when students find a method or strategy that works for them. My goal is to make them realize that we are not always going to do everything the same, and that is okay. We are all different and unique, that is what makes us wonderful!
My students often have not had the opportunity to experience things that we are studying in class. Part of my job is to build their background knowledge to make their experiences in the classroom come to life. A large portion of my class qualifies for free and reduced lunch. I also have students that are gifted, receive special education services, and are English Language Learners.
My Project
These materials will provide additional seating options in the classroom. We already have many different options in the classroom, but these options will add some new insight. Students will get to sit at in the Mr. Joe Chairs and use clipboards. They can pull the ottomans up to a small table, or they can even lay down on the bench and let their imagination run wild!
These additional options with give my students the opportunity to choose what type of seating works well for them.
My goal in doing this is that it will make them begin to take ownership in their learning. Students understand their needs and do what they need to do to be successful in the classroom.
