My school is a unique place with many ethnicities and countries represented and over 60 languages spoken. My school also is home to many students with special needs. We are a Title I school with 85% of our students qualifying for free and reduced-price lunch.
My students love to learn music from all over the world!
Every month we learn a new folk dance from a foreign country. We also use familiar nursery rhymes and folk songs from America to help them learn English. We have many classroom instruments from all of the world that we enjoy playing as well.
My Project
I am a fully certified Orff-Schulwerk music educator, which means all of my music lessons are designed to include singing, speaking, dancing, playing instruments, improvising, and composing. I use the Purposeful Pathways music Orff-Sculwerk based music curriculum to help me with planning engaging lessons for my students.
