Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students are phenomenal! You might never guess that our school is at more than 80% of our families below the poverty level. They come to school excited to learn everyday, full of energy just waiting to be put to good use.
Kids (and adults for that matter) learn better when their choice of seat is comfortable and fits them well, no matter their size.
Students come in all sizes and each have different needs in order to be successful in class. My goal is to make my classroom a safe, inviting, right fit for each and every student that walks through my door.
My Project
We all know that when we are comfortable, we learn better. When students arrive in my 3rd grade classroom each year, they are not all the same size. Students range in size, but our furniture does not. Without drawing attention to differences that may impact their ability to work as easy as others, I want to provide a fun way to allow each student to just feel comfortable. By providing bouncy bands for the desk or chair, students will have a strong base for their swinging feet, and also provide movement for those that need it. Allowing some to sit on wobble seats and stools will raise them up just the right amount they need and provide movement for focus.
Students deserve to fit in, have confidence, and be comfortable in their own classroom.
This project will help build all of that and more as we grow as a classroom community together. Thank you for supporting our students.
