Help me give my students a chance to find their voice in class and out in the world. Give them the chance to build confidence in class by using a Qball in a fun and engaging way.
I have three inclusion classes. Our class has kids with and without special needs. I teach the same subjects to all three classes. I teach science, social studies, writing, and an ELA intervention block. I have kindergarten as my homeroom, but have a 90-minute block with first grade and a 90-minute block with second grade. I then keep teach them the same subjects from kindergarten through second.
We are a Leader in Me school and do a lot of class discussions and student-led lessons.
When we are reviewing science and social studies topics we are often reviewing in a game show format. Some of our kids are very shy either because they have speech issues, language issues, or just because they have not built up the confidence to talk in front of others.
My students are amazing. They are very supportive of each other no matter what. We have a variety of special needs and the love our kids have for each other is overwhelmingly beautiful. If one of our students really wants to answer but seems nervous or forgets when they are called on, the other students are encouraging and helpful.
My Project
The Qball is a microphone that you can throw around. With a class full of kids with such different needs, anything that is hands-on is more effective. Having the chance to be hands-on and let the kids be heard will make each lesson that much more exciting. Helping our kids find their voice will help them be so much more successful.
When students are having fun in the classroom, they are so much more engaged.
Having the chance to be heard in the classroom in a new exciting way can really build the confidence and engage the kids.
