We are a small rural school with a big heart for our kids. Many of our students are poor, qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. Knowledge can be a great equalizer for disadvantaged kids, helping them gain valuable skills that will help them overcome their socioeconomic status.
Because of the poor area in which we live, there are students who don't have access to even the most basic school materials because they can't afford them.
School is a place where they can have the materials and technology they need to bridge the poverty and social divide and to help them explore career options that they might not have otherwise thought about.
My Project
The media center can often be a large and distracting space for students who have ADHD or other sensory needs. The flexible seating area will give students who need to find a quiet spot to gather and focus themselves the ability to move the seats to do that. At the same time, it will give some of our students with mobility issues, the room to move to a spot that works for them.
Making our media center a welcoming place for all types of learners is so very important to us.
We want every student to feel that they have the tools that they need to succeed.
