My Students
Our kindergarten students are incredible humans...we always knew that, but they have proven themselves to be nothing less than resilient young humans who are doing their best in a time when even grown ups don't have any idea about what to do.
Our kids are English Language Learners, they come from families who have been deeply impacted by the pandemic, families who are focused on meeting their basic needs, families who are working with the little they have.
We can help provide families with some respite, we can provide opportunities where there previously were none. This project will impact all of the kindergarten families from our school.
My Project
When this project is fully funded, we will be able to send every kindergarten child at our school a copy of a book called Get the Giggles! Inside, kids will find appropriate, illustrated jokes that are written in a way that is designed for young readers. We are looking for a way to send home fun reading material that will help kids across our kindergarten classes feel connected and joyous.
When our students receive this book at home, we want them to feel loved by their teachers and school community, and to have something that provides them with a little laughter!
Gifting these books will give families opportunities not only to read together, but find ways to laugh during what is turning into a very difficult time.
