Mrs. Greene from Roxbury MA is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need Chromebook computers to use during guided reading time to expand their reading library and allow them access to online reading programs.

"Take Chances, Make Mistakes, Get Messy!" reads the poster in the front of my classroom. A famous quote from Mrs. Frizzle, the lovable teacher from The Magic School Bus series. These are words that I want my amazing third graders to live by each day in the classroom and in their lives.
My students love the stories and adventures that they can find in books.
For many of them, a book takes them away from the worries of every day life. My students are from some of the poorest neighborhoods in Boston. More than half of them are learning English as a Second Language. School is a place where they can learn new things, meet new friends, and feel part of a community that is constantly pushing them to succeed.
My students need Chromebook computers in order to be more successful during their reading time in class.
During reading time we love to do book clubs.
Unfortunately, our library and book room don't have many enjoyable options that we really want to sink our teeth into. When we do find a title we like there often aren't enough copies to go around. With computers, we can have access to all of the newest, most exciting books that are out there! This will push us to enjoy reading even more.
For our struggling readers, there are programs that work with the reader at their current level. Often when struggling readers need to work independently they lose focus. This is a waste of their time. When I can't be with the students one on one they can work on the computer and not lose out on valuable reading time.
