Every day my students come to school with smiling faces, eager to be at school. Ready to face a new day to discover and explore new horizons. They love school!
Keep the love for learning strong!
I work at a Title I elementary school where the majority of our students have free or reduced-price lunch. We have a substantial population of Special Education (Sped) students. This year is especially different because of the COVID-19. With Distance Learning, my students miss being in the classroom with me and their friends. We all miss the person to person contact. I really miss the teaching part and being able to help them to enjoy learning.
I want to provide opportunities to keep them involved and feel included in our classroom. They try so hard to understand basic concepts and ideas. I know it is difficult for them. I want to keep learning fun and engaging for them every day so they don't lose hope and purpose for learning new and exciting things.
My Project
Students will learn about fossils. Digging for fossils will make a huge difference in my students' learning: we have done a unit on how fossils tell us about the past and this culminating experience will be the highlight of the time we have spent learning about paleontology!
The students have learned a lot about Mary Anning and other paleontologists.
They have also learned about the work that paleontologists do to learn about prehistoric life. Chipping away at kits like the "Ultimate Dinosaur Science Kit-Dig Up Dino Fossils and Assemble a T-Rex Skeleton!", students will excavate fossils (dinosaur bones, mosasaur, and fossilized shark teeth). My students will remember this experience for years to come!
