My Students

Kindergarten is a magical place. Every day is filled with lots of work, lots of play, and a whole lot of fun. We want our classroom to be a place where students learn through hands-on activities and play.

Our school is a wonderful mix of students.

Some kids come from very affluent families, while others are just scraping by. Some students speak English in their homes, while others speak only Spanish. Some students are reading fluently while others barely recognize their names. Despite their differences, our students become a family. They learn how to communicate and work together. They learn to become readers and writers, and they learn what it means to become a part of a classroom community.

My Project

My students come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. I want to add more books to our classroom library that reflect the diversity not only of our school but of the world around them. Good books not only give my students the opportunity to increase their vocabulary and comprehension but are a way to help them see that they are a part of a wonderful and diverse world.

As a kindergarten teacher, I am the first step into the wonderful world of school.

I also want to provide my students with books that give us more opportunities to talk about how to be kind and inclusive to new friends and in new situations.
