My students need books, like 2 copies of "A Handful of Beans," "Babushka Baba Yaga," and "My Rotten Redheaded Older Brother," so they can get exposure to masters of personal narrative and re-imaginings of fables.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Help inspire us! We are excited to write personal narratives and illustrate our writing with watercolor artworks.
We are students at a school in Washington state who are looking to be inspired to create personal narratives accompanied by watercolor illustrations.
We have gradually made progress on state testing scores in writing, and we're ready to take the next leap.
My Project
Our library is lacking copies of books by Patricia Polacco and William Steig, two masters of the watercolor medium. Polacco is a prolific memoir author with an incredible knack for recording small, important moments in her life. Our students can relate to her experiences and deserve the opportunity to be exposed to her work.
We are so excited at the possibility of structuring a unit around two skilled, inspiring artists.
One of the greatest joys of teaching is watching a student discover a new author or illustrator. Thank you for providing this opportunity.
