We are a group of 28 energetic 3rd graders, some with special needs, some of us are english language learners, and we are all excited for the upcoming school year. Students learn to work collaboratively with students who have autism or who have learning difficulties, or who are excelling in a subject.
In our classroom we learn to embrace differences because it makes our world more exciting and fun!
For a third of my students, english is not the first language spoken at home. Learning about countries like Jordan, Tawaiian, India, Pakistan, and Chile from students in our class makes our world so much more richer.
We have had a big growth in number of students in our classroom from 17 students last year to 28 students this year! Your support helps tremendously so that every students has the tools they need to learn and succeed.
My Project
28 students will be entering the classroom in just a few quick weeks ready to learn. I need to be ready for them with enough seating options and a place for their important work. This school year I have an increase of 11 students to my classroom from last school year. I am requesting materials to ensure all students will be welcome and successful!
The supplies that I hope to receive will assist my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices.
The portable lap desks, stadium seats and bench cushion will allow students to sit around the classroom, but will still allow movement. These will be extremely beneficial for students that just need to get the wiggles out. The comfy floor seats will allow for collaborative work because students can easily move the seats to a space in the room near their group members. On the opposite the seats will also allow for students to move away from others so they can have a quiet independent work space. They are lightweight and can be easily moved to be used in many areas of the classroom. The mailbox unit will give students a home for their important papers to be distributed in order to go home so that their families can see their hard work. Some students benefit from having a visual of the amount of time they have to work in a particular subject. The timer gives independence to students who need help in planning their time so they can be as productive as possible.
Choice can positively affect students work and attitude! It is my hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
