My Students

My first grade class is full of little learners who are all eager to read. They are sweet, caring students who deserve the best learning opportunities possible. Our STEAM school encourages students to think like scientists, engineers, artists, and mathematicians, all while encouraging them to become strong, proficient readers. At the first grade level, it is important to build students’ reading skills, expand their vocabulary, and foster a love for reading, so that students can tackle those STEAM related tasks they are presented with now and in the future.

My Project

This rug would be amazing in my classroom! It's large enough for all of the students to have their own place to sit, and has spots on it that identify where a student sits. This provides personal space for the students, will help with quick transitions, and it will look warm and inviting in the classroom! Read aloud time is so important in the first grade classroom. It's an opportunity to model think-aloud comprehension strategies, develop vocabulary, and help students interact with books. Students will love this rug because it has colors that appeal to both boys and girls, too!
