This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is a Title I public charter school. My 24 third grade students are eager and passionate learners. They want to learn and desire to reach their goals. Third grade is the first year in which they take the standardized test, so it is a huge jump from second grade! We look at a lot of data, take many assessments, and test prep often. These scholars prepare best through hands-on experiences and flexible seating.
"Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I learn." -Ben Franklin.
Eight and nine-year-olds want to experience their learning. They create brilliance by exploration. Curiosity peaks when interest is present. Engaged learners are creating.
My Project
Flex-space comfy floor seats, flex-space giant comfy pillows, and a small area rug will provide comfort in learning. Expanding the space available can increase their imagination. Providing students with the space to learn helps to hold themselves accountable and use their time on task.
Setting up a fun classroom establishes trust and strive to learn.
These seating options will enhance collaboration and group work. Students will use these resources to read, play math games, to peer edit and revise writing, and for many more activities! The Carpet Read To Dream Border Rug will allow for partner work and movement in learning.
