I have 22 amazing and busy first-grade kiddos this year. My kids love to learn and are hard workers. While we have everything we need, these supplies would help our classroom become a more comfortable and fun place to learn for my active class.
I teach in a Title I school, where 100% of our students receive free breakfast, lunch, and supper.
Despite the economic hardships of our community, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They come ready to learn each day with a great attitude. They support each other and look out for each other.
By offering new and different ways to learn, students will be more successful and be able to learn more.
My Project
I am asking for a variety of learning resources, supplies, and books. We need these incredible resources to help students understand the value of money and how to use it responsibility. My students will be learning the value of money by having opportunities in the classroom to earn and save money. They will also be reading books and playing games to learn how to be responsible with money. By making learning about money fun, my students will be more engaged and learn more. This will also help them to learn how to count money and make change.
Learning financially responsibility will help my students throughout their lives.
These are skills that they will use everyday as adults. My students will save the money they earn to use in our classroom store. They will be able to save for a colored dry erase marker, an all about me poster, art time with a volunteer, or printing their writing in color.
I will be using the laminator and card stock to create reusable money word problems for students to solve. They will be able to draw coins and money on the laminated sheets to help them solve the problems and show understanding. They will also use the money stamps to show their understanding of coins and coin values to show various amounts. I think they will really love the money puzzles. These leveled puzzles will allow kids to count money at their own level.
Teaching students about money and smart saving is a skill that will help them become financially responsible adults.
