Help me give my students a variety of board games to help teach them financial literacy as well as pretend checkbooks so they can keep track of virtual money earned and to buy money themed rewards.
My class of fifth graders is full of energetic, active students. They walk into my class willing and ready to learn. They come from various backgrounds within our community. I have students whose parents are in the Navy or Coast Guard and one parent is on deployment much of the time. Other students are from homes where their parents are working two or more jobs.
Every day, my students are challenged to stretch their minds and push themselves farther than they thought possible.
They are many times surprised by what they can achieve when they believe in themselves.
My Project
Many students at this age do not have much experience with finances and how important it is to be financially fit. By using board games like Managing My Allowance, Pay Day!, Buy It Right!, Exact Change, and Allowance for my students to play on Fridays , I will help students gain a better understanding of financial health and why it is so important now and in the future. As students complete the games they will earn the incentives of J&J's Toy Scape $100 Bill Erasers, Mini Notebooks & Pencils. They will be constantly reminded of their financial literacy as they use these throughout the day.

The donations of these items will have a tremendous impact on my students. Through the act of play students will become more familiar with money and spending it wisely. They will begin to have a greater understanding of finances and how important it is to manage them. They will learn that mismanaging funds can lead to serious problems and lifelong struggles that can be avoided if handled correctly. My students will become financially healthy, productive citizens in our community.
