Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school believes that literacy is the heart of education. It is so fundamental to learning that its importance in our school cannot be overstated.
My class consists of 24 amazing students.
They are energetic, unique, happy 2nd graders. They come into my classroom with different characteristics, skills and life experiences. These differences help us to build a cohesive and collaborative classroom community. They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have learners that are excited and ready to learn!
My Project
I am so excited to introduce financial literacy with engaging seating (lap desk and standing desk), an introduction with an entertaining book The Money Ninja and ending my lesson with a detective room transformation with financial story problems in each case file. Each case file will have a story problem hitting at least one of our targets. Students will have to solve each problem in order to get the keys to unlock the box to get the prize. This will be a complete study hitting on our district's target skills. Those targets include being able to explain the purpose of money and explain how buyers and sellers exchange goods and services. I believe by making learning fun my students will increase their engagement which in turn will increase their learning.
