Each and every one of my students is unique and special in their own way. I teach a special day class in Placerville, CA for students with moderate to severe autism. Each one of my students learns and excels in their own way.
Many of my students are non-verbal and communicate through pictures, communication devices, and facial expressions.
Because of this, my students require hands-on materials to access and understand the curriculum.
I strive to not only teach my students skills they can use in the classroom, but more importantly, skills they can use in their day to day life.
My Project
These materials will help me teach my students the basics of financial literacy. My goal is for each one of my students to be able to acquire the skills to hold a job and be responsible with their money.
Games such as Allowance, Monopoly, and Making Cents will not only teach my students the names of the coins and how much they are worth, but how to budget their money.
These resources will be used daily during math centers where 2-3 students at a time will get the small group direct instruction on financial literacy to help them become productive members of society. So many adults have trouble with financial literacy today...it is never too early to start teaching our children!
