Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day.
I strive to help them become the best version of themselves.
I want them to persevere, to change their mindset, to believe in themselves, and to know that their education is so important.
From the moment they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. It is my goal to inspire the earliest learners to continue on the path of academic excellence in a creative and positive way.
My Project
Kindergarten sets the stage for a child's educational career! It is a crucial year in a child's schooling because they are the building block so it is important that my students know the necessary skills for future standards. I believe I need to prepare my students to learn about Financial Literacy through an engaging unforgettable lesson. Imagine walking into a kindergarten classroom that has been taken over by zoo animals! All the numbers and classroom money have gone missing, and it is your students' job to find it all and save your school from the animals. BUT what's that? A mysterious crate? It must be in there! Oh no, it's locked! What now?
Let's grab our safari supplies, and start catching because kindergartners learn best through play-based lessons!
I can't think of a better way to engage them than ZOO ANIMALS! Students will have to complete a zoo animal themed money and number activity in order to find the missing keys to the crates and save the classroom money and numbers from the animals. Using the binoculars, students will have to work together to find hidden animals with different pictures of money and numbers where they will have to be identified and documented on a corresponding worksheet. After the students complete this activity they will receive keys to unlock the crate revealing the missing classroom supplies and a reward.
Students will then be given a $20 reward that they can use to spend on zoo animal-themed activities. Each of these activities will cost a different amount of money so students will be practicing managing money.
