Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

We are a performing arts school in an urban district in NJ. Students audition to enter our school and must be able to excel, not only in the arts but in their academic classes. My students are truly some of the most amazing people I know. They are kind, talented and hardworking. I ask 110% of them on a daily basis and they work to meet the challenge. On average, with hard work our students have a 100% high school graduation rate.

My Project

Financial literacy is a skill that is difficult for students to understand, as they often have little background knowledge on this concept especially our inner-city students.

It's essential to develop my own understanding of financial literacy and discover a variety of methods in which to teach my students this important topic.

I need a Chromebook and a charging outlet to learn more about teaching financial literacy through professional development resource ebooks, financial literacy websites such as Investopedia, podcasts such as www.talkingfinlit.org and CreditStacker as well as other various finance apps located in iTunes and on the Amazon website as well videos online.
