I work at a low-income school in Clarkston, WA. More than 80% of the students in our school qualify for the free and reduced-price lunch program. Despite the difficulties my students face at home, they are wonderful kids who come to school wanting to learn and work hard.
I have the pleasure of teaching fifth grade in my awesome school and am excited to go to work every single day.
I love incorporating new ideas and activities into their learning and watching how excited they get. Despite their tough exteriors and harsh words, my students are always excited to try new activities and show me their appreciation in the sweetest ways.
My Project
Math Stations are always hard in any classroom. As a teacher, we worry about how we will keep the students engaged while also making sure that they are learning the skills that they need at their level.
This year I have set up a new math station program so that my students can actively work at their own level learning what each student needs to be successful.
These stations will include place value, multiplication, and financial literacy aspects so that my students can learn the most important math that they will use every day in life.
Now that we've been doing this for awhile, we need to refill and replace some of the materials that we have been using for these stations. These materials, like the tape dispensers, cups and building materials will allow me to help my students keep their learning as they move from station to station practicing their skills. This will let them work on solving their math, learning about multiplication and financial literacy, and having fun doing so.
