My students need a cash register, play money, dry erase boards, thin markers, a money game, and a book to learn about finances in the classroom.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 29 wonderful 5th-grade students, which include special education students, magnet students, English Language Learners, and intervention students. They are very enthusiastic about learning and are always eager to explore new things. They love coming to school every day, and always have a big smile on their faces, despite the socioeconomic hardships they endure in the community in which they live. They attend a school in California, in a low-income neighborhood. The school is both a regular and highly gifted/magnet institution. However, my students are part of the regular school and do not have access to the materials and enrichment activities that the magnet students have.
My Project
"It's pretty much how we get anything added to the curriculum. When parents said children needed to be computer literate, the schools started responding. The same thing is true of basic financial literacy." -Elizabeth Warren. This quotes clearly explains why financial literacy should be taught in schools. I strongly believe students need to learn at an early age how to manage money so that they become financially responsible citizens. That is why my students would like to use a cash register and play money to learn how to spend and save money wisely. In addition, they will use the whiteboards, and markers, to learn how to do checks and balances. The students will also use the Allowance game to learn how to earn money. I will use the book to find lessons to teach financial literacy in the classroom.
The ultimate goal is for students to gain the knowledge and develop the skills necessary to become financially productive and responsible citizens in the future.
If students have these skills, they will lead a more financially secure life.
Your support will make this possible and will have a great impact on the students' lives now and in the future. Thank you in advance for your support.
