Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is located in New Jersey. The school has a large Hispanic population and contains a large English learner population. The majority of the students qualify for free breakfast, lunch, and afterschool food. My class is energetic, creative, and respectful. They make every day an adventure.
This year in the eighth grade, we have a heavy focus on developing math skills.
We spend many minutes a day becoming better mathematicians. Many of these students have not gained the love of math yet, and I hope this project helps them develop a new passion for all things math related.
My Project
When you are born in the mindset of survival not thriving it is extremely difficult to change that thinking pattern. The vast majority of our students come from a lower income bracket.
These notebooks will allow these students to participate in a financial literacy programe the local bank offers.
This programe teaches many things that will help these students moving forward in adulthood. Some of the things that they learn about how to maintain credit health, investing and how to build a stock portfolio. These skills will not only be for these students but for their families also. This program can change students lives.
