Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing! They love exploring their environment and learning new things. I teach at a Title I/Star School where more than 75% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price meals, and 20% are English Language Learners. Our students come from diverse backgrounds including English Language Learners and military families.
Our students are excited to learn and I want to give them the best possible school experience.
In addition to the school curriculum, my students are learning kindness, patience, and understanding towards all students with various abilities. I want my students to strive for the best and to keep their love of learning alive as they continue in their education.
My Project
My students are energetic and inquisitive kindergarteners who are beginning to grasp early math concepts such more, less, and number recognition. These are the basic skills they need to master in order to expand their knowledge in financial literacy.
The materials in this project will enhance my students’ math skills through highly engaging and interactive activities.
The number stamps, stamp pads, and counting games will help my students with number recognition and counting. The counters will be used daily to help students count and solve addition adn subtraction problems. The tabletop caddies and storage bins will help keep our materials organized for easy access by all students.
The math books will be used to introduce and reinforce our math concepts. I will be able to teach my students about saving and spending, how money is used to make purchases, and making good choices based on needs and wants.
