Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students need to learn how to manage their money, how to budget, and how to save. My students need to become experts in number sense to be able to understand and carry out their personal finances. We need these materials to use at our math centers.
My class is composed of Hispanic and African-American students.
My students are enthusiastic learners and are beginning to understand and appreciate their environment and the world they live in. They enjoy hands-on activities and experiments. They appreciate anything that is donated to our class. They enjoy learning to count money and are proud of being able to use it to purchase things.
My Project
My students need Neighborhood Jobs Math Kit to have hands on practice with having a business. We need the Math Stories to connect math and literacy. The Flip It Money Game will help them gain speed with counting money. The Math Games Library includes a variety of games to help my students gain number sense. Number sense is necessary in order for them to know how to budget and count their money. The ink will help me print important math worksheets and games. The laminating pouches will help me preserve them. The post-its will help my students jot down important notes in their math book.
My project is very important because my students need to master the basic skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in order to understand finances.
The hands-on activities I am requesting will be used at our math centers. They will help them learn about money, saving and spending. Financial literacy should be taught now.
