Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Social Science to 7th and 8th grade students. Middle school students are special individuals who are experiencing many social, physical, and emotional changes. As an educator of middle school students, I love to watch them grow academically and achieve their goals in the classroom.

I want to make sure I can help provide my students with skills and knowledge upon which to build as they meet their goals and become successful.

My school is a kindergarten through 8th grade school where a majority of the students receive free or reduced-priced lunch. Many of my students are English language learners, and some of them have special needs.

English language learners face a particular challenge of learning a new language and culture and can greatly benefit from visual access to multiple texts.

My Project

With nearly 20% of Americans living beyond their means, education about personal finance is critical. Research indicates that teaching financial literacy to students yields greater money-management skills that carry well into adulthood.

These materials will help my students complete required financial courses online for middle school.

These courses will teach students about credit cards, bank accounts, interest rates, saving, and investing.

Teaching financial literacy to students is the first step in helping students achieve a better understanding of how financial management can lead to a more secure financial future.
