My students come to school so eager and excited to learn new concepts. As you know, the world we live in is becoming increasingly entrepreneurial, and, for that reason, it is very important for kids to begin learning the value of money at a young age. Did you know that most financial habits are formed by age seven? I was shocked to hear this. This means it's never too early to start.
Financial literacy is an important skill that can be taught very early using great books and fun activities!
I want to make learning about money much more than a math lesson about counting coins. I want to make it as fun as I can by using lots of great read aloud books to introduce topics such as saving, spending, and creating a budget. Having books that my young students can relate to will be a great way to introduce them to such topics.
I will create a money focused bulletin board for this unit and have several lessons and fun activities to encourage my students to think critically and work together to solve problems related to money.
This project also includes a small bank for each child to keep. This will be a keepsake the students can take home and will also serve as a reminder of how important it is to save.
