Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are motivated and eager to learn. They enjoy being read to, and after they have heard books read to them, they enjoy reading them on their own. They enjoy literature and discussing books. They have a wonderful knack for connecting personal experiences with the literature they have read. They are learning a second language and developing their vocabulary everyday. My end in mind is to develop the love of reading that will take my students on great adventures.
I teach twenty-four, first grade, second language learners who are living in a low-income community in Los Angeles.
Our school is a Title One school with students from preschool to fifth grade. At our school, we strive to instill the idea in our students that they are thinkers, leaders and change-makers. We are the first Leader in Me school in our area, and we are very proud to be developing Thinkers, Leaders and Change Makers!
My Project
My students are learning to add and subtract with real world problems. They need to learn to make connections to real life situations.
I am asking for two books that would be great for classroom discussions.
I am also asking for colored card stock paper to make money games they can use at center time. In addition, we really need some power cords for our Chromebooks. We use our Chromebooks during math time and need the apps for counting money. By helping us with our project, you will be giving my students the opportunity to engage in counting, adding and subtracting money.
