Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The first grade students in my classroom are fun, energetic, and witty! They are also diverse in ethnicity, economics, and academics. We are a Title I, dual-language school in a Seattle neighborhood. The students in my class, and within our school, speak a wide variety of languages including Spanish, Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Somali among others. However, one common denominator is that they all work hard and want more. They want more knowledge, they want more out of life, and they love to learn! In order to do that, they need the materials that can help them be successful and continue to WANT to be lifelong learners.
My Project
Help me, help my students learn early financial literacy skills through fun and engaging texts focusing on various math goals and standards we learn throughout the year.
By obtaining a real library of math texts in our classroom, our students will be able to engage in more problem solving in our first grade classroom with read-alouds and independent reading.
The Math Start texts and math library requested in this project, include a variety of books focus on various math standards covered in our first grade curriculum. If our project is funded, my students will have the opportunity to bring even more math "to life" within the walls of our classroom and work on solving problems related to the skills we need to learn. Thank you for considering our project!
